Buying on Online.mv

When you buy from a shop on Online.mv, or at name.online.mv, you are buying from that shop, not from Online.mv.

1. Who sells to you. The shop named on the page is the seller. It sets the prices, delivery areas and fees, payment methods, and its own cancellation and return rules, which it shows on its pages. Questions about an order go to the shop first. Each order shows the seller’s details and whether we have verified the business.
2. What Online.mv does. Online.mv runs the website and keeps your order details safe for the shop. We do not take your payment. You pay the shop directly, by bank transfer, cash on delivery or another method the shop offers.
3. Orders. Stock is held for your order for a limited time while you pay. If you do not pay in that time, the order is cancelled and the stock is released. The shop confirms the order when it has checked your payment.
4. Your rights. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act stay with you. These terms do not take them away.
5. Your shopper account (optional). You can keep your name, phone and addresses to check out faster at any shop on Online.mv. You can change or delete your account at any time. Deleting it removes your saved addresses. Shops keep the record of orders you placed with them, because the law requires them to keep sales records.
6. Fair use. Do not place false orders or upload payment slips that are not real.
7. Something wrong with a listing? Use “Report this listing” on the product page. Our staff review every report.

Shop names and verification

1. Choosing a name

You may open a shop on Online.mv under any business name and shop address that are free. Use only a name you have the right to use: your own registered business name, or a trading name that belongs to you. Do not use the name, logo or shop address of another business, or a name that could make buyers think you are someone else.

2. Your name is not protected until you are verified

A name and shop address are protected only after Online.mv verifies your business. To be verified, you send your MoEDTT business registration certificate, and our staff check it against the Ministry’s records. Until then, your name and shop address can be given to another business, as explained in section 4.

3. The Verified badge

The blue Verified badge appears only after our staff have checked your registration. We may check again at any time, and at least once a year. We remove the badge if your registration expires, is cancelled, does not match your shop, or if any document you gave us was false. You may not copy the badge, or use the words “verified” or “official”, or tick symbols, in your shop name.

4. When the registered owner claims a name

Sometimes a business registered with MoEDTT under a name asks for that name, or the matching shop address, and proves it is theirs. If your business is not verified under that registration, Online.mv may:

1. give the name and shop address to the registered business;
2. change your shop’s name and address to temporary ones; and
3. take your online shop offline until you choose a new name.

We will email you when this happens and tell you why. Your products, stock, sales records and till keep working; only the name and address change. Orders already placed with you stay with you, and you must complete or refund them.

5. One registration, one shop

Each MoEDTT registration number can be verified for only one business on Online.mv.

6. False information

If you give us false documents, or use another business’s name on purpose, we may suspend or close your account. We keep records, and we share them with the authorities when the law requires.

7. Asking us to look again

If you disagree with a decision about a name, email info@online.mv within 14 days and we will review it. As far as the law allows, Online.mv is not responsible for losses from losing a name that was not verified.

8. Your agreement

When you tick the box to create your shop, you agree to this section. We record the date and the version you agreed to.
